Isolated DC/DC Power ICs from RECOM

The high-performance DC/DC power ICs of the RVP and RVS series from Recom are now available from us. The components enable the design of isolated DC/DC converters with power levels up to 10 W and are designed for a high level of integration. They support insulation classes ranging from functional to reinforced insulation. Typical applications include gate drivers, industrial control and process automation systems, medical devices and diagnostic systems, as well as test and measurement equipment and communication interfaces.

The RVP series consists of unregulated primary-side transformer driver power ICs supporting input voltages up to 30 V and available in various versions. Push-pull types such as the RVP010 and RVP6501 are suitable for a wide range of isolated applications. As a pin- and function-compatible alternative to the industry-established 6501 type, the RVP6501 enables migration of existing designs with minimal redesign effort. For applications where simplified magnetic design is a priority, the RVP001, RVP003, and RVP005 types use a full-bridge topology. This eliminates the need for a primary-side center-tap winding, simplifying transformer winding design and minimizing magnetic imbalances. At the same time, the symmetrical drive of the transformer core ensures efficient use of the magnetic material.

On the secondary side, the RVS series complements the RVP drivers. The synchronous rectifier IC RVS002 replaces conventional diode rectifiers and reduces conduction losses and thermal stress through synchronous rectification, thereby increasing efficiency. At the same time, the number of external components such as dummy resistors or additional compensation components is reduced, resulting in a reproducible, layout-friendly design with improved efficiency. All RVP and RVS ICs feature integrated protection functions such as short-circuit protection and soft start, as well as an extended operating temperature range from −40 °C to +125 °C.
