Regulation (EU) 2019/2020 - Ecodesign Requirements 

As of September 1, 2021, Regulation (EU) 2019/2020 became mandatory and replaced, among others, the previous (EU) No. 1194/2012. The goal is to establish a framework for setting requirements for the environmentally sound design of energy-related products. It applies to light sources, including LED power supplies that are used either as built-in components in luminaires or as independent operating devices.

Relevant for LED power supplies are the new requirements regarding the required efficiency, power consumption at no-load, standby or networked standby operation, the displacement factor (DF, cos φ1), as well as flicker and stroboscopic effects.
