Prismatic Supercapacitors from Schurter – Ultra-Compact yet Powerful

Passive Components I 30.04.2025
We are expanding our product portfolio to include prismatic supercapacitors (supercaps) from Swiss technology company Schurter, with the SCPA, SCPB, and SCPC series.
These products offer several advantages, including high power density, extremely low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) with high current handling capability and low self-discharge. Typical applications include consumer electronics, renewable energy systems, IoT sensors, automation technology, and medical devices.
The SCPA series stands out with its ultra-flat design, ideal for space-constrained applications. The thinnest model is just 0.4 mm thick—making it the thinnest high-power supercapacitor on the market. The SCPB types are optimized for applications requiring an extended lifespan, while the SCPC components are designed for energy-intensive applications and offer high temperature resistance.
These supercaps are available as single or dual cells and are suitable for PCB mounting. The SCPA series is rated for operating temperatures from -40°C to +85°C (4.2–4.5 V) and -40°C to +70°C (5.5 V), the SCPB series for -40°C to +70°C, and the SCPC series for -40°C to +85°C. All components comply with RoHS and REACH requirements and are CE- and UKCA-certified.
Supercapacitors offer a higher energy density than conventional capacitors and a higher power density than batteries. This enables them to store large amounts of energy and release it very quickly—making them ideal for applications with short charge and discharge cycles.
