AEC-Q200 Compliant and Reliable: Panasonic’s New ZL Series SMD Polymer Hybrid Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

At Schukat, we have now added the new capacitors in the ZL series from Panasonic Industry to our product portfolio. The SMD electrolytic capacitors in the ZL series target automotive applications, amongst others, where capacitors need to be more heat resistant, have a smaller form factor, and offer greater capacitance than ever before. Thanks to new electrolyte technology, the ZL capacitors achieve the industry’s highest capacitance. They have a small form factor and are guaranteed to operate at ambient temperatures from -55°C to +135°C. Ripple current capability has also been significantly increased.
The cylindrical capacitors are available in five case sizes from ø 5x5.8mm to ø 10mmx10.2mm. The 5mm and 6.3mm diameter sizes achieve an operating lifetime of 2,000 hours, with the larger variants guaranteeing 4,000 operational hours.
With a rated voltage of 25V, the Panasonic ZL series offers capacitance from 82µF to 680µF depending on size; at 35V rated voltage, capacitance from 47ìF to 470ìF is achieved, with tolerance of +/-20%. The ESR value is up to 40% lower than in Panasonic’s earlier ZC or ZKU series, while the significant reduction in footprint contributes to the miniaturization of end devices and to reducing the quantity of parts and materials used. In automotive applications in particular, capacitors need to be more heat-resistant, have a smaller form factor, and offer greater capacitance than ever before.
