Product Liability

Product liability law (ProdHaftG) governs the extent to which a manufacturer is liable for damage or injury caused by a faulty product.

Product Liability

An obligation to pay compensation may already arise when a product is displayed to a non-commercial consumer in such a way that it leads to a false understanding about the safety of the product. The non-commercial consumer's unfamiliarity with the security regulations that have to be adhered to when using the product also has to be taken into account.
Therefore, you always have to prove that you have made the non-commercial consumer aware of the security rules and regulations.

In the interest of safety, the non-commercial consumer must always be made aware of the following safety regulations:

Security Regulations

Please remember that the applicable VDE regulations must be adhered to when coming into contact with electrically charged products.

In particular please take note of the following regulations:
VDE0100; VDE0550/0551; VDE0700; VDE0711; VDE0860

You can receive information concerning VDE-Security measures from vde-Verlag GmbH, Bismarckstraße 33, 10625 Berlin.

Before opening a device, pull out the plug and make sure that no electrical power is connected.
Components, assembly units and equipment should only be operated when assembled beforehand in a totally enclosed casing. During assembly, power should be switched off.
Tools should only be used on equipment, components or assembly units when it is absolutely certain that the component is not connected to a power supply, and that electrical charges stored in components found in the equipment have been discharged.
Please examine power cables and wires that are used to connect equipment, components or assembly units for insulation faults or breaks. When a fault in the cable has been detected, the component must immediately be removed until the faulty cable has been exchanged.
When using components or assembly units, insist constantly on strict adherence to the electrical parameters as provided in the accompanying description.
When the present description for the non-commercial end user does not clearly mention which electrical parameters are applicable for a component, a specialist in this field must be consulted for information.

In all other circumstances, the user/buyer is subject to compliance with building and safety regulations of every kind (VDE, TÃœV, trade association etc.).

This law should ensure that manufacturers and consumer traders only deliver secure products for private use and that the CE marking is only available for legally authorised use.

The ProdSG individually regulates who is a manufacturer and trader, which responsibilities manufacturers and traders have, as well as the prerequisite under which a product with a "CE" logo can be proven.

We would like to point out that under certain circumstances the ProdSG can apply to you.

Furthermore, we would like to emphasize that even if all unit equipment carry a CE marking they may not conform to the CE marking law if combined differently. The proof of conform must be shown by whoever carried out the changes.

The same is applicable when several CE marked assembly units are put together in one piece of equipment.

Declarations of CE conformity on products we sell can be found on a leaflet enclosed with our products.

Please be aware of our explanations concerning product liability law, which also apply to observing the CE guidelines.

You can get more information about the CE marking from the Federal Network Agency.
