We are expanding our product range with the ATEX-compliant FTR-K1 PCB relay series from relay specialist FCL Components. These general-purpose relays are designed for safe use in heating controls, household appliances, and lighting systems in potentially explosive atmospheres. The FTR-K1 series comprises three variants that differ in terms of temperature range and sealing level. The standard version is approved for ambient temperatures from −40 °C to +85 °C and is flux-proof (RTII). In addition, two variants are available for operating temperatures from −40 °C to +105 °C: a flux-free RTII version and a fully plastic-sealed RTIII version.

In general, FTR-K1 relays are characterized by high insulation, low power consumption, and a compact design. The high level of insulation is based on a minimum clearance and creepage distance of 10 mm between the coil and contacts, a dielectric strength of 5,000 VAC (1 minute), and an impulse withstand voltage of 5 kV / 10 kV. The relays are available in a monostable version with a single coil and Class F coil wire. The energy-efficient, sensitive 400 mW low-power coil is designed for nominal coil voltages from 12 to 24 VDC, with coil resistances of 360 ohms and 1,440 ohms. The maximum switching current is 16 A, and the SPST-NO contact is made of cadmium-free AgSnO₂. The operate time of the FTR-K1 relays is a maximum of 15 ms, while the release time is a maximum of 5 ms. The PCB relays feature compact dimensions of 29.0 × 12.7 × 15.7 mm (THT) and are housed in a flame-retardant UL94-V-0 enclosure. In addition to compliance with the ATEX Directive, they meet the standards IEC/EN 60079-0 and IEC/EN 60079-1. All relays in the FTR-K1 series are RoHS-compliant and, depending on the model, comply with international safety standards such as UL, cULus, CSA, VDE, and CQC.
