CE Conformity Marking

Since January 1st, 1996, only devices bearing the CE marking may be placed on the market. Further details are specified in the German Product Safety Act (Produktsicherheitsgesetz – ProdSG), which implements the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2023/988 into German law.

This law is intended to ensure that manufacturers and distributors only supply consumers with safe products for private use and that the CE marking is used exclusively in legally authorized cases. The law specifically defines who qualifies as a manufacturer or distributor, outlines their obligations, and sets the conditions under which a product can be affixed with the CE marking. Please note that even if all components in a device bear a CE marking, this does not automatically mean that the device, when assembled differently, is CE compliant. The responsibility to prove compliance lies with the person who makes any modifications. The same applies if you assemble several CE-marked components into a single device. Declarations of CE conformity for the products we distribute are available through our sales department: vertrieb@schukat.com.
