The easiest way to apply KONTAFLON 85 is with a spray can. The solids in the spray can, concentrates, and solutions settle at the bottom relatively quickly. Therefore, the storage container must be shaken or stirred at regular intervals. The surfaces to be treated must be clean and free of grease. Metal surfaces can be degreased, for example, with KONTAKT CHEMIE Degreaser 65. KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontaflon 85 solutions are sensitive to moisture. Containers must always be tightly closed and sealed during storage. Diluted solutions should only be prepared in quantities that are expected to be used within one day. The equipment and devices used must be suitable for handling flammable liquids. Freshly coated surfaces feel relatively smooth. To ensure optimal sliding properties immediately, the lubricating film should be polished with a cloth or buffing pad after a drying time of 15–30 minutes. KONTAKT CHEMIE Kontaflon 85 is a release agent that prevents coatings, plastic molding compounds, and adhesives from adhering. Unlike silicones, however, it is not volatile and does not creep. Placing treated parts in areas where coating or bonding is taking place does not cause wetting problems on adjacent surfaces. No harmful effects have been observed following oral ingestion or skin contact. When handling relatively large quantities, it is recommended to ensure adequate ventilation and to wear dust masks. Therefore, smoking is prohibited while using the product. In addition, adequate ventilation must be ensured when using the aerosol or solvents.
